When the Lord asks us to release (_you fill in the blank_ ), it’s because He has something even greater to put into our open hands. He can’t give us something if we are tight-fisted. The process of releasing or giving something away requires us to unclench our fists and expose our palms, which postures us to be able to receive from God. Why do we wrestle with surrendering and letting go? Fear of loss, lack, or missing out on something or someone? We sometimes forget that we can’t outgive God. It takes a lot of trust to release people and circumstances into the hands of God, doesn’t it? He is leading me to loosen my grip on relationships and circumstances. The Holy Spirit keeps whispering for me to not lean on my own understanding of things. Reflecting back on this busy year, God has been talking to me alot about my need to ‘release’ before I’m able to ‘receive’ from Him. Creation trusts in its Maker and we should, too. I wish it was as easy for us humans to yield to God’s will. So every October, hubby and I escape to the Smoky Mountains and we love it up there! The crisp air, the hiking trails, the wildlife, the stunning mountain views and the red, orange and gold leaves.Īutumn is a season of change and transition and all of nature surrenders to it. Being transplanted Southerners, we really miss experiencing Autumn in all its fullness.
